| China-made Peugeot 207 to go on Sale this Month Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroen Automobile, a joint venture between the Dongfeng Motor Corp and the PSA Group, is set to launch its Peugeot 207 hatchback and sedan simultaneously to the Chinese market this month, said auto.sina.com today. The Peugeot 207 hatchback and sedan made by the joint venture will sell at a price between 80,000 yuan ($11,700) and 120,000 yuan when they go on sale in the Chinese market at the end of October. The existing 206 model, whose production is still going on, will not instantly quit the market. The Peugeot 206 now sells in China for 77,800-113,800 yuan. Read More... |

| Ford feature will let parents set limits for teens (AP) DETROIT - So you think junior is a little too lead-footed when he drives the family car? Starting next year, Ford Motor Co. will give you the power to do something about it. The company will roll out a new feature on many 2010 models that can limit teen drivers to 80 mph, using a computer chip in the key. Parents also have the option of programming the teen's key to limit the audio system's volume, and to sound continuous alerts if the driver doesn't wear a seat belt. Read More... |
| Chrysler's new hybrid SUVs score a 20/22 mpg from the EPA Those who have had a hard look at their needs and still come to the conclusion that a full-size SUV would fit the bill officially have a new option. The Chrysler Aspen and Dodge Durango hybrids are now on sale and the EPA has determined that the pair have the best fuel economy of any such vehicles on the U.S. market. The Chrysler duo are officially rated at 20 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the open road. Chrysler has opted to offer the Two-Mode hybrid trucks only with all-wheel-drive while GM's similarly powered Tahoe/Yukon can be had in rear- or all-wheel-drive. Comparing like configurations, both brands get an equal 20 mpg in stop and go traffic. Once you get up to cruising speed, the Chryslers pull out ahead, topping the GM SUVs by 2 mpg. At about $45K, the Chrysler/Dodges provide what may be an even more important advantage over the competition. An AWD Tahoe will run you $53,000. | Ford to sell Mazda shares to insurers? While GM is being swamped with the persistent rumors surrounding the addition/dissolution of Chrysler, Ford's rumor mill has been heading in the complete opposite direction. It appears Volvo is on the way out of Dearborn, but Mazda may be sneaking through the exit first. Recent reports since disputed by Mazda have Ford selling off a portion of its 33.4% stake in the Japanese automaker, which means the Blue Oval would lose majority ownership status. The Nikkei daily in Japan has been all over the Ford/Mazda story, and the latest news involves selling 20% of Mazda to 20 Japanese firms including some insurance companies, leaving Ford with a stake of around 13%.
